Add to calendar 2019-10-11 23:59:59 Europe/Oslo Yoga for Theatres av MaisonDahlBonnema (performance) Hans Petter’s granduncle E. was a lover of nature and a fervent nazi. He believed in Hitler and a healthy lifestyle. His painting of Hans Petter picking blueberries in a Norwegian forest opens up a world of paradoxes. The SS recommending yoga to their concentration camp employees to attain inner peace. The current vibe of ecological doom boomeranging back in a sense of yogic political correctness. The theatricality of representing the world in an era that is already hyper-mediatized and framed. Yoga for Theatres is an opera, a song-situation for four berry-pickers, a yogaturge and a virtual swastika; a space to come up with new strategies to celebrate the cosmos and our relation with the world. If ecological culture and politics is about “the re-enchantment of the world”, our task might be to find magic in the world and its (un)digested histories, from yoga and nazism to eco-bliss. Blindfolded the berry-pickers dig deep in the everyday to find the countless invisible lines that connect the theatre and the body to the world and the galaxy. An almost archeological way of working; sexy and slow, deep and wide, to make us receptive to the unexpected. In this piece MaisonDahlBonnema takes a next step into its journey of musical deconstruction. Recycling the language of theatre, and as such also reframing our views on the world. Wary of easy solutions and pre-programmed ideas for taking action, the text of the piece reassembles our vast array of contemporary concerns into a phantasmagoric experience of threads and pieces. Weaving itself between extinction anxiety, bacterial sensuality, theatre burn-out and global confusion. Undoing time, the songs float from world into world, creating impossible landscapes that invite the mind to surrender. Accompanied by the electronic, poppy beats, visitors create their own associative storylines. A play without drama, within the walls of the theatre. Music clashing with content. A Brechtian act of alienation. To find back what was lost. Or never was. Somewhere outside of the frame. Yoga for Theatres will practice mindful stretching and bending of the world as we know it, expanding our consciousness through songs. Flexing our ideas on the monstrous deformity of human concepts. In close harmony with characters as diverse as the Striped Fly Mouse, the Dog, Pumpkin, Water Woman and the Golden Frog we sing to make friends again with the Earth through humbleness: we are 7,73 billion people sharing the song, but we all sing alone.
